This review is solely for their banh canh cua, it's packed with this umami flavor that will have you dreaming about it. You can skip the pho, bbh and bun rieu ( lacks flavor imo).

Authentic spot in the plaza Beef pho (4/5) - Authentic, flavorful soup. Would be 5/5 except the beef slices were well done Spicy beef vermicelli soup (2/5) - Did not enjoy this but likely just personal taste. Too gamey for me.

This little mom-pop joint makes delicious Vietnamese food! Everything comes out hot and tasty (you can tell they're heating it up on the stove unlike other Vietnamese spots in Philly). Their pho, rice plates, hu tieu + mi quang have been some of the favorites. Also this spot is much better than the brightly lit spot next door. Don't sleep on it

I came here with my boyfriend after grocery shopping. Pho Thanh Truc has authentic Vietnamese restaurant with delicious food. I highly recommend trying something new instead of pho. I will have to come back to try other dishes on the menu. This location is day and night compared to Pho Today next door in terms of appearances. Pho Thanh Truc has a much lower price point for similar items.

I'd highly recommend this new Vietnamese spot. Had my first taste of Banh Canh Cua (crab tapioca noodle soup, #71). Delicious! Fried shrimp balls, shrimp, quail eggs, and slippery tapioca noodles swim in vivid orange crab broth. The bowl's topped with crab meat, fried garlic, scallions, and cilantro. This is a new favorite dish. The complimentary ice tea they serve is excellent. Their menu says they're byob, and have delivery for orders over $15.
